feeding center in Gulu

Therapeutic feeding center at Gulu Main Hospital. Here malnourished babies are fed to bring them up to weight. Currently there are 39 children in the center, by July the number will reach 150. The center is supported by UNICEF, AVSI, WFP and other organizations.
The children's height and weight are compared, and their feeding adjusted accordingly.

In general children are referred here by other organizations like MSF and UNICEF. Reasons for malnutrition can include cholera, HIV/AIDS, Malaria, and dysentery.

Some of the children were very healthy and about to be released, others were so weak that I do not know how they will survive.

All the hunger in the north is war related. The land is more than fertile enough to support the population, but the people cannot get to their land because of the intense insecurity.
